What is New York State Supervisors and Administrators Consortium, NYSSAC?
The old saying is that there is strength in numbers. With that old adage in mind, in 2005, the New York State Federation of School Administrators (NYSFSA) embarked on a journey with another state organization to strengthen the voice of School Leaders. Since NYSFSA represents approximately half of the NYS school leaders in Buffalo, NYC and Yonkers a (6,500), it made sense to partner with the School Administrators Association of NYS (SAANYS) who presents Rochester, Syracuse and hundreds of small school districts in our state with a membership of about 6,500. NYSFSA also represents a very large retiree membership of approximately 7,000. The two organizations decided to establish a Consortium entitled the New York State Supervisors and Administrators consortium (NYSSAC) to work collaboratively on lobbying efforts and developing Professional Development opportunities for School Leaders. For a number of years, NYSSAC was a sponsor of the PBS Teaching and Learning Celebration conference and is presently working on providing many professional development programs around our Empire state this school year.
